Range rentals for instructors

Teaching a class needs more than a public lane — it needs a facility that welcomes private instructors, allows your curriculum, and has the space to run it. Every range below accepts instructor rentals; listings show distances, amenities, and how to get in touch.

How to evaluate a rental facility

Capacity and format
Match the facility to your class size: a private bay handles one-on-one coaching, while a 20-student CCW class needs a dedicated line, staging space, and a classroom for the lecture block.
Distances and target systems
Pistol fundamentals need 25 yards; carbine and precision courses want 100+. Turning targets, steel, and barricades expand what you can teach — confirm what's included in the rental rate.
Insurance and credentials
Nearly every facility requires instructor liability insurance (often $1M+) with the range named as additional insured, plus current instructor certifications. Have your COI ready before you call.
Holster and movement permissions
Drawing from the holster, shooter movement, and rapid strings are restricted at many public lines but standard in exclusive-use rentals. Confirm your curriculum is allowed in writing.
Rate structure
Expect hourly or daily exclusive-use rates, sometimes per-student fees instead. Weekday daytime blocks are cheapest; recurring bookings usually earn a discount.
Lodging for multi-day courses
Destination training works better when students stay on site. A small set of facilities offer bunkhouses or cabins — a real differentiator for 2–5 day schools.

Range rental FAQ

Why rent a range instead of teaching at a public line?
Control. An exclusive-use rental lets you run holster work, movement, and timed strings that public lanes prohibit, keeps your students together, and puts you in charge of the safety plan — which is what your insurance expects.
What does it cost to rent a range for a class?
Hugely variable: a private indoor bay might run $50–$150/hour, while full-day exclusive use of an outdoor facility commonly lands in the few-hundred-dollar range. Per-student pricing also exists. Build the rental into your course fee.
What insurance do instructors need?
Professional liability coverage for firearms instruction — commonly $1M per occurrence — with the host facility listed as additional insured. Several insurers specialize in instructor policies; facilities will tell you their exact minimums.
How far ahead should I book?
For weekend exclusive use, 4–8 weeks is typical; popular training facilities book further out. Weekday blocks are much easier to get and cheaper.
